What happens to a teen after they are out of their parents' house and in college? Maybe this isn't so for everyone but from my experience they become unruly or out of control. For example I have a really good friend, who will remain nameless, who before college was a really good girl, she lived by the bible and had morals. She had a steady relationship with a good christian boy for several years. They had pretty much the same morals, they both wanted to wait until marrage to have sex and things like that. This is a girl who wouldn't skip one class with me in high school. She never lied to her parents and she would talk about how stupid people our age are for having to get crazy drunk to have a good time. However when she moved out of her parents house and into her dorm she turned into a totaly different person, one I could hardly recognize. She started going to parties and getting dog drunk to where she couldn't even remember what happened that night. I can understand doing this every now and then, but it was single every weekend. Not only did she start drinking, like the people she said were stupid, but she would also sleep in insted of going to classes because she is too hung over. A girl who wouldn't skip a high school class skipping a college course. She also started smoking and getting with different guys every weekend. She would meet a guy just that day and that night he would stay over at her dorm. This would never come from the girl I knew, which bring me back to my main point, What happens to teens when the move out and go to college?
I asked my friend why she has changed so much and she just told me that being out of the house is so liberating. She said that she feels free now that she's in the "real world," no one controlling what you do or how you act. she said that it's over whelming to take in and you don't know what to do with it so you just have fun. I think "don't know what to do with it so you just have fun" is crap.
I think being "over whelmed' with freedom so you go crazy is a bounch of BS. It's all excuses for college students to justify their wrong doings. You don't have to get drunk and be stupid, it's a choice. Your choice. Alot of students say they drink and stuff to fit in. You don't have to always be accepted by everyone... I think you should be yourself no matter what. Don't always conform!
